need amp for speakers if I have an amp with sub?

Do you guys think that I need a 4ch amp. This is what I currently have:

    A pioneer deh-p6500 HU
    2 audiobahn 100wrms 6x8
    2 rear speakers (1 kappa 100w rms, 1 polk 60 w rms)
kenwood amp with 12" xplod sub

Some people tell me that I dont need an amp for my speakers if I have a sub and amp handling my lows. Plus my head unit is pretty good.

Let me know what you think.

If you don't have the money right now, you can run all your speakers off your hu, and adjust the gain of your amp acordingly, just to balance everything.
How many channels in that kenwood amp?
    2 rear speakers (1 kappa 100w rms, 1 polk 60 w rms)

Why do you have two different speakers?
If you want to add an amp in the future buy a two channel amp for your fronts, I'm assuming that your sub amp is either a mono or bridged two-channel.

i think the kenwood is two channels.

My question is, will the amp really make a difference in the mid-to high that i will demand from my speakers since the sub is already handling the bass?

I have two different speakers because i had the set for polk and i punched a hole in one of them.

Go with a two channel amp for your front speakers and forget those rear ones, or find another pair of speakers and run them off your hu.

Re: need amp for speakers if I have an amp with sub?

    booker, thats an interesting suggestion,

if i understand u correctly, you are basically saying that it is better to have a 4ch amp bridged to two channel for my front speakers, then have the amp go to all speakers? since u mentioned that even if i get new speakers, they should be run by my HU?

thats what i understand from what you are saying.

Get a 2-channel amp just for your front speakers, since you already have an amp for your sub. If you are concerned about rear fill then run your rear speakers off your head unit.

It took me a while to understand it too until I try it by myself, since then I am like

for front stage and you'll see what everybody recommends you to do, that's the way to go.

Always amplify your front stage. It'll help your midbass signifiicantly, which will help our sub blend in better.
