How to get bass in the cabin?

I have two 12 Compvr's in the trunk of my 2004 Dodge Neon R/t. I know they hit but it's really not that loud in the cabin. How can i fix the problem. I know theyre powered right. Theyre getting 800 watts rms in a ported box built by kicker for them. They sound awesome if u stick your head in the trunk but i cant exactly drive like that. So what are my options?

The subs and the port are facing the back of the car. Could a ground that's too small hurt the sound? LIke a 10 guage ground? Also whats a good guage to go from the amp to box and to use in the box?

Re: How to get bass in the cabin?

    1) You could port your reardeck. By making maybe a 4" hole between your rear speakers to let some of the bass from the trunk into the cabin.

    2) You normally don't need rear speakers once you get subs, so take them out and the bass will definately come in the cabin.

    3) Get some small subs and have them custom installed in your reardeck in place of your rear speakers.

I myself went with #2. That is THE MOST cost efficient way to get more bass in the cabin. Doesn't cost a thing, unless you need to pay somebody to take the rears out.

I have 6x9 holes, so I have PLENTY of bass in my cabin from the trunk. It's almost as loud as folding my back seat down. Your highs and mids don't need to be coming from behind you anyway, in MY opinion.

So, the easy way is to simply ditch your rear speakers

Re: How to get bass in the cabin?

doesnt your dodge have fold down seats? Anyways, I measured mine on a spl meter from splmeters.com. I measured with the subs facing the trunk in a ported enclosure and than flipped them around with subs facing windshield. The SPL was loudest facing the windshield, but my vehicle is different-Dodge neon sxt 2004. Plus my enclosure is different than yours, i bet. Id try moving your enclosure around and see if that helps. If your back seats dont fold down, id also try taking the rear speakers out as someone mentioned before.

try placing the subs closer to the trunk lid with the sub cones facing AWAY from driver. i think a good 10-12 inches away from the trunk lid would do fine.

but check with the amp settings and maybe even subsonic filter?

As Jtomsic stated, it sounds like you need a better soundstage. You shouldn't NEED ANY mids and highs coming from the back of you. Those should be in front of you, just like at a concert. And if your sub is crossed over correctly, the bass, all though it's coming from the trunk, will be omni-directional and not sounding like it's coming from the rear.

    MY front soundstage is PLENTY.

    Upgrade your soundstage
