    Hood damage from Battery

My battery won't hold a charge in my car so i went to get a new one from autozone. The factory battery i had only has side post the replacement battery they gave me has both top and side posts but the sales man told me it wouldn't hurt anything. Well he was WRONG. The following Friday i brought my car to the car wash and noticed a small dent in my hood. The dent is from the negative top post hitting the hood, their isin't enuff clearance for the post to clear the hood with out denting it. i went to autozone to get a new battery and they said they couldn't do that. What do yall think? You think they should replace the battery and possibly get me a new hood? If so, what can i do to get the replacement battery?

Make them pay for your replacement hood - whoever was the jackass that installed a top-post battery in your car was dead wrong, and they should pay for their mistake.

Get an exact replacement (usually comes in "Group" numbers, like Group 51 or Group 34) for your stock battery...

I tried but when i went to autozone the manager said their's nothing he can do about it. Do you think I should call the autozone company to see what they can do??

Did they put the battery in there for you, or did you put it in yourself.

Write letters...carbon copy them to the store manager, the regional offices, and the local Better Business Bureau. Make some phone calls and share your displeasure with them, to put it kindly. This sort of **** doesn't stand...and they're wrong to think it does.

Uhh.... wait until he replies on whether he installed it himself or not. That will determine what actions can be taken.

No, regardless of who installed it, I would file a complaint with them for recommending a product that does harm to your vehicle. Whether or not they installed it is secondary...they might as well have installed it, because the owner of the vehicle didn't (and shouldn't be expected to, legally) know any better.

I will tell you this now, if you raise **** with the regional manager, they will fix your car. I was a commercial manager here and saw it done due to a dumb *** CSR

    Re: Hood damage from Battery

Because fixing your hood, replacing your battery and shutting you up is much cheaper in the long run to not fix anything, and have them lose business by you badmouthing their store every chance you get...their regional offices are smart enough to realize this, hopefully.

Very true...although, your family would have other things on their mind if that was the case

I installed the battery myself but that was the battery listed as the replacement in the computer and its still listed as the replacement in their computers. I think im going to call the regional office cause i would really like a new battery and my hood replaced or fixed. Thanks for every ones input and im deff. going to do something about this. I don't think its right.

you are correct...if you have a gm vehicle, the battery should not have had the top posts....
