I know people say to have your inline fuse on the power wire WITHIN 18" of the battery...but is it a problem if you have it to close? I was wiring mine up today, and I have the inline fuse only about 2" from the battery connection...is this ok?

i say yes.

18" or less is fine.
The idea is that you want as little of the wire run exposed to shorting out before the fuse.
As close as possible, while giving a safe connection is best.
What the f00k happened to this place?

Phoenix Gold make one that combines two KF/AFS fuses. 2 150A KF/AFS = 300A. The post has one 1/0 output that is unfused + an 8awg one and then the fused 1/0 output.
