    Yeah, diameter.

Typically, in the same line of subs, the larger the sub the louder and lower it will play (because it has more displacement). But, that doesn't mean all 12's are louder than all 10's, etc etc.

so it depends on the sub? but if there were one of each size, all same brand and model. the bigest one would be better? thanks

Correct me if im wrong ppl

The biggest difference is that with the smaller size you will need less Watts to produce the sound that you want. Im not talking about loudness but rather frequency. While a 15" you will need more Watts to get it to achieve the same frequency because of its size.

In other words (these numbers are made up)

A 10" sub at a frequency of 50Hz might need 600W to achieve it nicely

Where as a 15" sub tuned to the same frequency may need 1000W to achieve the same sound.

Obviously with that boost in power you will also get a boost in loudness.

    Thats my best shot.

is it worth it 2 go from 2 10's to 2'15's? the subs are kinda on the mid to low end, i would need a big *** amp to power the 2 15's, the amps run about $400.00
