whatever floats your boat. Most car thiefs don't give a rats *** about alarms though.

Why would you pay 5 bucks for that? You can get one 10x brigher for 10x cheaper. at www.lsdiodes.com

Plus, they give you a free sticker that says "Robots will kill you."

    Re: LED anti theft

So this could be hooked up to your alarm system?

I think really bright strobe light at night would definitely slow down a theif. Its dark, their eyes are adjusted to the dark, and then Strobe lights are going off in their face when their trying to work on your car.

It would slow them down, and even if they managed to smash the lights, their eyes would need to adjust to the dark again. Takes probably 30 or 40 seconds to adjust, and all this time the alarm is blaring.

I need to look into this lol. Thanx for the idea.

LSDiodes no longer sells Luxeon stars, but http://www.theledlight.com/LuxeonLEDs.html that place does. They are kind of expensive, but from what i see between the leds that i ordered and those, i bet theyre painfully bright. Else, get the THC3 White from LSDiodes; its their brightest led

usually an LED comes stock with an alarm. (my compustar has a couple) its definetly not going to stop a professional thief but i think it makes a young kid think twice about trying to steal from a car that has an alarm.

I think your talking about the Normal LED that blinks.... to warn thieves away..

We are talking about the Led's that emitt really bright light to blind theives lol.

It will slow them down, because once they look into it (at night) their eyes will have to adjust, and any amount of seconds you slow those bastards down, the better failure rate they will have.

    Re: LED anti theft

You could also encase the leds in resin, making them really **** hard to smash.

    Re: LED anti theft

The THC^3's are bright, but you'd have to have a **** load of them to really do any damage. I have 8 of the white one's in my amp.

LED's sound like a dumb idea IMHO. you can just cover them up.... if you constructed a circuit that would strobe when the alarm went off and 150 THC^3 whites were installed in the headliner, that might do it. but th'eyd probably take advantage of the extra light and steal everything.

    theives ---->don't give a ****

I dont know about you, but my eyes have a tough time readjusting when flashed with a moderately bright light, nevermind a luxeon star. However, UCP thought of a good defense...cover them up If they cant see em, they wont hurt. You may want to mount them on your walls or something...

Yea exactly what I have been saying.

If it is night time, the theives eyes are adjusted to the dark, and then suddenly BAM, really bright strobe lights in his face.

Sure he can cover them, sure he can smash them, but the damage is done, his eyes now have to readjust and that make take a few seconds.

We all know how important a few seconds to a theif is.
