Icon32 New to car audio and need help!

Im looking to get a good sound system in my car, but I really don't know jack about all that stuff. I was hoping that some of you guys had experience with car audio and could help me out. I have a 2002 Pathfinder SE. I want a really good system, but I want the best bang for the buck. I honestly don't know what a good sound system for your car is. I just know that I need a head unit, amp, speakers, and subs. Could you guys please help out?

Best thing to do is give yourself a month and a half, and just sit around here and read the forums. Read guides and stuff like that. You wont understand them at first, but the more youre exposed to em, the more youll learn.

Re: New to car audio and need help!

Can you install the stuff yourself or not? If not that will be hard to do a decent system for that price if you have to pay for install.

Figure $200 on a nice deck, $200 on nice speakers, $300 on amps, $200 on a sub, $100 in install parts, and then labor if needed for a decent begineer setup. IMO.

No I wouldn't be able to install it myself. I would be willing to spend up to $1000 excluding the install. Yes, I want good sound quality, but I also want a loud bass.

Well an SQ system can get loud enough and give you plenty of knock- but if you want blurred vision bass.....

Re: New to car audio and need help!

Well I want it to be really loud, but I don't want it to take away from sound quality, so I guess im looking for a middle between the two.

Re: New to car audio and need help!

I'm a fan of an SQL/SPL system myself as long as the fronstage is up to par with the rest, a balanced sound

I've taken my doors apart and actually plan on doing something there- Shoot me a PM I can give you some ideas or suggestions on your fronstage- BTW there are great members here that will give you great advise on amps and subs as well to get the job done you are looking for under/at budget
