why cant i hear the singing from my speakers?

Ok for some reason the singing is not real loud coming from my speakers, on some CD's you cant even hear the singing and other high notes, while on others you can hear the singing faintly. My amp is a JL 300/4 ... it has nothing to do with the speakers and I have an old cheap amp that I hooked up to them and the speakers sounded fine.

Could something be wrong with my amp? I just had all the outputs replaced..the amp is brand new, i dont know why i cant hear the singing.

its on HP filter and its set at about 95, although it doesnt matter, even if i turn it down it does not change.


you guys ever heard of anything like this?

Sounds like either a setting is wrong (gains, EQ in heaunit if any, etc) or the amp is faulty.

either that or you may have your crossover set too low for the speakers and it is trying to play the mid-bass notes and high notes simutaneously. Does your amp have a bass boost feature? If so check to make sure it's off. That's all i can think of right now that could possibly be a problem

check your head unit and see if the trebble <sp?> is down

well i thought the amp was broken so i took it and it was tested at an electronics store and they said it was fine except the front right output was bad, so i had all the outputs replaced

I cant figure out what is wrong, i have tried every configuration of settings on the amp...and i dont see why it would matter what the HU is set at because with any other amp with the same HU settings it works fine

Have you tried a direct swap of the JL with another amp (after it was "fixed")? If so, and the other amp worked fine, then you just found your problem
