new to a lot of things need help with ohms

Ummm I am new to pretty much all of the car stereo stuff. I am hopefully going to try and install a 15 inch 8 ohm sub with either 2 ten inch 4 ohms or 2 eight inch 4 ohms. I have one amp it is a kenwood 1000 w says it is 500 x1 RMS. I heard that if i was to try and run that one amp to the 15 and the 8's or 10's that i would screw up my amp because the ohms are different. is that true? Because if it is then Im gonna try to sell my 15 as soon as possible. Are there any ways around it?

yes it would screw my amp???......so i would need to get all my subs with the same ohms??? my amp is like a kacx520

If using 8ohm drivers will get the power you need from the amps, then more power to you. Nothing wrong with it, as long as it works for you.

I suppose you could wire the 8/10's in series for a 8ohm load, then wire this in parallel with the 15" for a 4ohm total load. I have no idea if this would sound good.

Keep in mind then that the 10s would get double the power that the 15......there would be uneven power distrobution.

But, it is honestly a really bad idea to mix and match different sized subs.

ok so why is it bad to mix subs of difft sizes ......i can just push 250 watts RMS to the 15 and like 100 watts RMS each to the 2 eights. .... everything will be in 8 ohms.

would this not work? or if it would work, what do i have to make sure i dont do so i dont screw anything up...??

ok

1. if you hook 2 15" 8ohm speakers wired in parralel they will be 4 ohms. This is prolly what you want.
2. if you try and wire the 2 10 in series to make 8 ohms and a 15 at 8ohms then wire those in parralel you will get 4 ohms. but because of the differing power need each sub (IE 15" needs "250Watt RMS" while 10" needs "100Watts RMS") the 10" might be maxed out and the 15" will be barely moving. it would work but you wouldnt get the full potential.
3. the higher the ohms on most amps will lower the power output. (IE. kicker 500 Watt amp only puts out 125W X 2 @4ohms while it will only put out 62.5W X 2 @ 8 ohms )
