    Set up help

I want to get a 18 XXX, and 1600 watt amp. My questions are:

How much do people pay for the sub?
Do they still make BEtter Audio amps?(how much)
If not what amp should I get?
What size box should i have ported for daily driver?(space not issue)
I have a 135 amp alt, should i up grade to 200 amperage one?

I was thinking about getting JL w7, just cuz its a good sub, but i think im gettin XXX, any opinions?

Don't remember for sure. It's around $450-$500 IIRC

    No

One that's within your budget. How much do you have to spend??

    A big one, and ported.

Wait and hook everything up first, then see how you electrical system handles the system. No use in spending $$ on something you may not need.

I've yet to be impressed by a W7....gets loud, but definitely heard better SQ wise. Plus, everyone and their brother has JL equipment. The XXX is cheaper, will perform just as well or better than the W7, and is more unique (not on this forum, but in the general population of car audio heads).

    Re: Set up help

i have over 2 g's but, i might look into a memphis mojo amp, or a phenix gold 1200.1 amp ( its the long one), but id like not spend over 700 for an amp, i have 4 gauge wire in my car, any point of upgrading.

Note: i could get a soloX with 4 Diamond audio 1000 watt amps and box for 2200, should i do that and upgrade electrical. I want this for daily driver but that price is hard to beat for that sub and amps combo. is that over kill? i just want it cuz its, cheap and sweet

    Re: Set up help

In order to push a true 4000w, you'd need to dump right around another grand just into the electrical system. Huge alt, multiple batteries, all new alt/battery wiring, etc etc.

    Re: Set up help

I've heard nothing but success with the XXX/bd1500 combo.
Depends on which voice coil configuration you want.
If space isn't an issue, I'd say 4.5-5 cubes around 32hz.

    1989 GMC Sierra ext. cab:

    Sony F-5000 cd player
    (2) Infinity KAPPA 4x6 plates
    Sony GTX-4600 amp
    (2) SonicFX D15s in a 7 cube box, tuned to 35hz
    Hifonics Brutus 1500

One of my subs is inverted; it adds 10 DBs!

    Direct from RE

Yes. The XXX comes standard with a dual 2ohm VC config, so just wire the coils in parallel for a 1ohm load.
