Help...Sound Cut-off

Hi...wanted to see if anyone could help me troubleshoot a problem.

Having a problem with my stereo. It plays fine for a few minutes and then the sound just disappears completely. Once the sound cuts out, the radio continues to function....just no sound?

What should I look for? Is the amp shutting down? If I let the car sit for awhile, the sound begins again but only for a few minutes then cuts out again.

I've had this system in my car for years and have never had a problem. Any advice?

is the amp going into protection?

check and tighten all conections.

No...the stereo plays as normal and then all of the sudden it goes silent. The radio display continues as does power to my preamp.

Its like the amp (or something) gets hot and shuts down. Once I turn it off for a bit it will again play for a few minutes and then cut off again.
