    Door Pods / Install Pics

After completing the fiberglass spare tire enclosure, I still had a lot of glass left, so I thought I'd try some door pods for my Infinity Kappa 6.5" components. I didn't know how my speakers would sound in sealed enclosures, as they were probably designed for infinite baffle, but after getting them in (partially), they seem to have a lot more mid-bass, which was the goal. I need to take them back off and grind part of them down so they don't rub against my trim, so I haven't put it all together yet.

Here are some pics of the install so far, what do you think?

I may eventually move the 6 1/2" Kappas to the rear, replace them with a nice set of 3-ways, and get rid of the 6x9s, as I have stock empty 4" speaker mounts in the doors.

Also I'd really like to get rid of that Sony amp, with a big 800w (yeah, right) stamped on the front of it, I have it running my highs, but I don't think replacing it will make much of an audible difference, am I wrong? It's the only Sony product I have that still works other than an old walkman, and I've bought a lot of Sony products over the years. I'm just waiting for it to break...

well i say if it works dont fix it, and i wouild agree with you when u say it might not make an audible difference, as long as your staying at the same wattage i would just stick with the sony until it shits the bed. I believe in the 'a watt is a watt' theory personally

the glass looks awesome too, great job!

Re: Door Pods / Install Pics

yea, I know, but I don't have the money to upgrade right now... As I said, I would like to get rid of the 6x9s, modify the rear stock mounts for 6 1/2s, and put some nice 3-way components in the front for front stage. I have the 6x9s turned down so much you don't really hear them.

I started with a crappy JVC deck, that Sony "800w" amp, some crappy sony speakers in the doors, and those Infinity 6x9s, and a RF Punch 10, bottom of the line, and have been upgrading piece by piece as I get the funds and learn more.
