    caps boostin input pwr?

I'm new to capacitor's so go easy on me. The other day I was reading one of my old truckin's and seen a huge setup with 12 15inch subs and 4 amps . This guy had 10 capicitor's sayin that the input power to the amps was now 18v.
Can caps do that? I thought they were just meant for giving you a steady flow of power. And If They can do this, That means wayyy more output power right???
Can someone help me out here. I'd like to know more so I don't gotta buy a bigger amp maybe

    thanx a lot

I'll let someone else handle this cause Cap talk can get ugly. My guess though is he may have added some modded amps. Other then that I don't believe that they do jack up voltage like that.

A cap does not produce anything. It only stores a charge provided by another source. To get everything operating at 18V he either used a totally seperate externally regulated alternator that was isolated from the rest of the vehicle's electrical system or used a large switching power supply to up the voltage (I know that US Amps made one of these for this purpose). Either way, the caps had nothing to do with the change in voltage.
