    boss and other cheap brands

this is a Serious question how does this company and other cheap componies like them stay in business, they have no real dealer presence(at least in my area only the flea market carries them)they are all over the internet so theres really no price control, and almost everyone who gets into car audio even newbs know that its not a good brand,no one that i know of compeats with there gear, yet they have been around for decades is there some place on this planet where boss is a big seller for some reason i think this company makes alot of money

Because they sell millions of units to the newbies that don't know any better. How many people do you know who's first system consisted of brands like Sundown or FI? They're the gateway equipment, people buy them then get the bug and upgrade to real stuff later.

I like the gateway drug analogy. People get the car audio bug and get hooked, upgrading to bigger and better.
I've seen a lot of that equipment being used on Youtube.

I can't say I've found any Boss equipment in pawn shops or used.... I have seen a few of the Legacy and cheaper Audiobahn equipment however...

My first system consisted of two 8" "Thump" subs and a Jensen 80-watt amp. That was 15 years ago.

'12 Nissan Altima - Bone Stock - Sounds good, but adding subs soon.

'02 BMW 330xi (AWD coupe), every option - SOLD

I think most newbs just see "2000w for $79" and jump on it thinking why would I spend 200 on a 600w am when I can get a 2000w amp for 79

Re: boss and other cheap brands

You may think that they don't make any money with their low profit margins but they sell so many units that it doesn't matter. Good companies have larger profit margins on their stuff but they don't sell as much inventory. You can buy that cheap equipment from anywhere in the world and you'd be surprised at how many people just don't know or don't care to know about quality audio equipment. I sold thousands of crappy subs and amps to people that just wanted something in their car.

Re: boss and other cheap brands

The price points of those gear combined with the ignorance (not an insult) of the consumer is what drives the sales of those brands.

The less you know about something, the less important specs will be and thus, you're more inclined to base your buying decision on price per claimed watt. After all, if you don't know what a watt is but the manufacturer claims there are a ton of them in his product, that sounds like a good deal.

It's like fishing... if you're not an avid angler and you just decide to go fishing one spring weekend, do you go buy a $200.00 reel and a $150.00 rod or do you buy the $19.95 combo on the end cap?

Most people buy the combo and then after they catch the fishing bug, they do their due diligence and eventually, they wind up with thousands of dollars tied up in fishing tools. I know I did, lol. And I know I had that twenty dollar combo at one point.

is Boss really as bad as people make it out to be? I know they straight up lie about power output, but are the board components and layout practically the same as any other chinese made board?

    All day I'm clippin'
    voltage be dippin'
    I don't give a damn,
    cause my trunk always hittin'!

creating a proper sound wave. Step one, turn it up until clipping. Step two, done.

Re: boss and other cheap brands

They're pretty bad. Lol A lot of your high end companies do make very inexpensive entry level equipment for the somewhat learned n00bz but I don't think they would build something so cheap that it is crappy. It would tarnish their name as a high end company.

how is that possible. That's an A/B class amp with a 30a fuse.

14.4v x 30a = 432 watts and we haven't even taken out watts for inefficiency yet.

lol, the math like that isn't always right... thats why they say use it as a guesstimate.... and mine had a 40amp fuse... but i don't know whats right cuz the one on amazon said 25, the one on another site said 30 and mine had a 45.... who knows... just know thats not a 3rd of the rms rating.... and mine was one ohm stable... the ones are on some of these sites are not...

easy, unlike other companies, they have their own buildhouse, coils, baskets, boards, capacitors they can produce inhouse AND ship their products for 15% of their marketable price and they send it to large distributors like walmart, autozone, best buy, frys, newegg, vminnovations, sonic etc. You also have the typical word of mouth noobs that say I got this couple thousand watt system and it bangs! Mainly from all the 5 star noob revews.

Clip city b1tch, clip clip city b1tch. 10's, 12's, 15's, goin up in flames b1tch.
