Line Drivers and question about Alpine HU...

first... is there a way to turn off/disable the internal amps on the Alpine 9813?

also, are line drivers good investments? I know they boost the volt signal from your HU to your amp. But is that to an advantage?

1.)I dont believe so and why would you want to turn it off anyway...?
2.)Yes, your amps gain is (most of the time) turned all the way down and IMO and IMexperiences a line driver makes the sub(s) audibly louder. You have to be careful to make sure your amp likes high input voltage. I fried a Orion 2500d feeding it too much a month back....

The PLD-1 by Phoenix Gold and RW Audio's (hard to find these days) LD's are cheap and many people praise them.

you can turn the internal amp off. hold the setup button for a couple seconds, then skip through the choices until you find power-ic. then push the band button to turn on or off.

if you don't have problem with noise, i don't think why you need a line driver.
