Apparently, the Elantra's audio system is 2 ohm. That seems to be the reason why a lot of owner's chose the Infinity speakers.

Typically the OEM drivers in the front (components) are 2 ohms which are ran in series having a 4 ohm end load on the factory radio. Rear 6.5 should be 4 ohm drivers (they are non components iirc). if you have a ohm meter or dmm, meter it, or have a friend/shop do it.

Re: Audio upgrade for 2013 Hyundai Elantra

I had a set of JBL components in my previous car, JBL GTO608C 6-1/2" 2-Way Grand Touring Component Speakers System, and while they were better than the factory speakers, I didn't think they were anything amazing. I'm wondering if the Infinity's will be better? I'd really like to stay away from a sub, since I need all the trunk space that I have. I'm wondering what types of components in the front and coaxials in the back would provide enough bass. I mostly listen to rock music, and I'm not looking to shake the pavement with my bass.

JBL and Infinity are both produced by Harman, the JBL and Infinity are rather comparable in build quality, construction, and sound reproduction with SLIGHT variances.

Ok, so for now, I only have the budget for either replacing the front components, or installing an amp (Clarion XC1410) to the factory speakers. What do the experts on the forums suggest?

Those are great speakers. I had those in fronts but the tweets were to loud for me. Even with -6dB so I put those in the rear and have Rockford fosgates t165-s in front and the jbls can still overpower. I like it BC I have mids and bass in rear and highs in the front. Fills the whole car

I'm very hesitant to recommend aftermarket speakers on factory amplifiers. The sound can end up worse than how you started because of EQ and such built into the factory amplifier. A new amplifier would take out the EQ curve but it could be a nice improvement by cleaning up the power. Either way, a speaker upgrade or an amplifier upgrade should go together at some time.
