    Jeep open air audio.

Hello everyone first post and I figured I would just dive right in so...

Lately I have been slowly building up my Jeep audio for what I would think is a somewhat unique standpoint, that being not having a roof or doors and the listening position being outside of the vehicle.

    Currently I have...

    Stock head.
1.500 Memphis SR series sub amp
    2x Memphis MCR-10d4 Subs
Prefab dual 10" Memphis box (tuned to 38hz, trunk)
4.300 Memphis SR series component amp
2x Memphis 6.5" MC-62 Coaxials (Roof sound bar)
2x Memphis 6.5" MCC-6A Components (Bottom of dash)
2x Memphis 1" MCC-6A Silk dome tweeters (Top of dash)

(It's all Memphis Audio because the shop here in town is a big fan of them, I personally do not have any brand leanings)

---------- Post added at 12:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:16 PM ----------

Now the discussion is this.. I want to be +/- 2db accurate at 20ft at 80db minimum.

I already know definitively that I will be using the Pioneer DEX-P99RS head, the other components are still up in the air.

System will need to run a 1.1000 and a 4.1000 minimum for amps for longevity since it is run for HOURS on end not minutes and the amps must be able to keep thermals in check.

    So anyone have any ideas?

---------- Post added at 12:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:17 PM ----------

Current build is planned roughly along the lines of...

    Head:

    Pioneer DEX-P99RS

    Amps:

    RF T1000-1bdCP (Subs)
    RF T1000-4ad (Components)

    Component Speakers:

2x RF T165 (Coaxial, Roof sound bar)
    2x RF T165-S (Component, Bottom dash/Top dash)

    Mid Bass:

    ???

Sub Bass (Needs to be tuned 25hz w/ 20hz LPF):

    ???

I would like to keep the system under $5,000.

I can get a new roof sound bar that holds up to 3x left 6.5" or 6X9" and 3x right 6.5" or 6X9", but I don't necessarily want to. Dash is stuck at a single left and right.

Thanks everyone and hoping for some good suggestions.

    Re: Jeep open air audio.

your plans can work but know that the enclosure for the speakers will determine how flat the response will be for midrange and midbass. enclosure aiming will determine where you have flat response.

are you making custom enclosures for these speakers?

have you been helped by me? i'd love to know. shoot me a PM.

    Re: Jeep open air audio.

I can however I am limited to where they can go.

2x front left and right dash, cannot fabricate.

2-6x Soundbar, will actually have to be fabricated. They fire directly down, can be un-ported or port faced to the rear of the vehicle.

and the "trunk" or "bed" space taken up currently by the subs.

    Re: Jeep open air audio.

    I should, yes.

The problem is finding marine audio that works towards my intended purpose.

If you know a company that makes higher end marine audio please tell me and I will look into them.

    Re: Jeep open air audio.

your investment will be somewhat wasted if you don't improve on the mounting locations - you need to control airspace and separate rear from front. otherwise you'll never hear what the system is capable of.
