Help buying a DVD receiver?
I am looking to buy a double din DVD player for a 2009 Ford Fusion, and not sure which one to get, or from where. I'm on a budget, looking to spend 250-300 for the head unit. I would also need help with a couple speakers. not changing them all out, just either the front or the back. I am not sure which are more important. The equipment needed for the job, and where to buy it. wiring harness, dash kit, antenna adapter, back up camera kit, etc.. also, how much more would it cost to add a navigation system to it?
also would like to disable the parking brake feature, so one that is friendly to doing that would be great.

If you order a head unit from crutchfield.com they will include all the mounting and dash kit stuff you need to install it. They sell almost everything at MSRP but their custom service is top notch and you can chat with an employee who are all knowledgeable and can help you pick things out. You will not find a navigation head unit for $300.

Re: Help buying a DVD receiver?
would you be willing to post some good options for me in the 250-300 range, and cheapest with navigation. rear camera, ipod connectivity for in car calling, and full touch screen are a necessity.

Just hit up crutchfield chat. They can narrow it down a lot faster than I could.

please dont buy from crutchfield, specially if your on a budget.
cheap double din navigation will be power acoustiks double din or try to get a pioneer from craiglist look for the avic lines.
if you want brand new you will need to look at power acoustiks, get the head unit first then add the nav later.
look at sonix electronics, online car stereo, ebay vminnovations
good luck
Re: Help buying a DVD receiver?
sonic electronics has a double din dvd/nav receiver for 369. Is there something wrong with it? Jensen VM9424BT
Re: Help buying a DVD receiver?
The other option I am considering is Pioneer AVH-P2400BT It doesn't have navigation but that isn't necessary.
Re: Help buying a DVD receiver?
Are those good choices? any suggestions?

It's a Jensen. I wouldnt expect good build or sound quality. Also, might have to deal with a difficult user interface. This is all me just playing Devil's advocate, and I have no experience with it. But you generally get what you pay for.

@impala63rag ;
another thing you can do is search youtube for people demonstrating and reviewing the item. I do that a lot.
Re: Help buying a DVD receiver?
Will 5 1/4 component speakers fit in a 6x8 door?
Is there anything in particular that I would need to look for when selecting a component set? the rms? 60w rms?
and what type of amp should go with that? a 400w, 100x4 4channel? components in front, 6x8 in the rear doors?
Re: Help buying a DVD receiver?
ok ,dont mess with the rears ,leave those for last .a decent deck double din will be a pioneer or clarion ,the jensen is junk ,also any double din under $350 new is gonna be garbage as well.the speakers . you can fit 6.5 components there if you buy or make an adapter.the speakers you pick will determine the amp power wattage output .you'll also need an amp kit ,at least 4 gauge. there are vendors like myself that can help you in steering you in the right direction and purchasing what items you need or want .but we need a budget ,and your complete wants and needs from the new system . jim
