New truck. Audio questions and suggestions.

Got my new truck today. '13 F150 STX 4x4 Supercab.

To say I'm ecstatic would be understating it, coming from a 2006 Malibu.

Not sure what I want to do with the audio system. Everything is so integrated I really don't want to mess up the SYNC system since I think it integrates with my smart phone to give me check ups on systems.

So that brings me to the question: How would my system sound with the OEM HU, with a processor such as an Audiocontrol, BitOne, MS-8, etc., with external amps and new speakers.

Can I keep the SYNC functionality if I throw in a new HU? I imagine I would need to get a steering wheel control adapter, and I probably would lose some buttons from the OEM HU.

Will swapping the HU or adding a processor void my warranty? (reading up on this myself)

Otherwise I will already adapt the doors for 6.5 components as long as I have room. Also not sure about subs. I kind of have to fold up the 60/40 seat. I could fold up the 40 side, and have room for a small box, possibly a ported 12. Or I could fold up the 60 side and have a longer box, possibly fit a 15 or 2 10's or 12's. I really would prefer to lose the smaller seat so I have more cargo and passenger room.

This will be an offroad vehicle. So I want to be sure everything won't be bouncing around. I may not do all these upgrades immediately, but definitely soon. Cheap factory systems just don't cut it for me anymore. Except it does have tweeters in the A pillars so it is bearable and will hold me over, just nothing crank worthy.

Replacing the HU definitely makes you lose SYNC, so don't do that. For systems like that, a processor/LOC is pretty much a must. As for voiding warranty, IIRC you can keep warranty as long as the truck can be reverted back to its original state

Ok so I think for now I'll just look towards a processor then. Any recommendations. The Audiocontrol's look nice for the $$$.

Haha pretty much. This engine is geared more towards torque iirc. The mustang has 420hp and this has 360hp, but this has higher torque I believe.

Depends on how hands-on you want to be in the process. The JBL MS-8 does pretty much everything for you as long as you know your crossover points (and lets you go active if you choose to do so in the future). The Arc PS8 is packed full of adjustments and will basically give you total control over your sound, but requires more thought.

The Audiocontrol units are more LOCs than they are sound processors until you start looking at the DSP-enabled ones that also feature on-board EQ, btw. The LC6i and DQXS is a bitchen combo.

Lol good point. Then again, there isn't much of a price difference between a MS8 with warranty and your pricing on a PS8 (without the remote, obviously)

Re: New truck. Audio questions and suggestions.

I really just want to add a 2ch and mono amp. Don't know about going active yet. I guess I would have to use the processor for HPF and LPF since I wouldn't have a HU to do that.

For amps I was thinking either a Pioneer PRS-D800 or PPI Phantom, idk about the Mono one yet. Pretty much want to run an Icon or two depending on what cone area and box size I can work with.

PPI P600.2 and P1000.1 would be a great combo, easy on electrical, and fit easily under your seats. Use a LC2i for your LOC and let the amps do the filtering (HPF/LPF)

Lol that's been almost exactly what I've been looking at lately.

Not sure about what I want to run for frontstage, was thinking about some CDT HD's or some PHD speakers that people have been talking about. Although, those JBL MS's have caught my eye since I love love JBL stuff.

Of course I will probably get this work done way later as I don't have a workspace now. Right now I just want to enjoy the damn truck instead of worrying about the audio system!
