Please help with my new 2013 Civic.
I bought a 2013 Civic LX and am disappointed with the rear speakers. The front two sound Much louder than the rear two speakers when faded in the middle. They also put out very little base compared to the front.
I had some Alpine sps 610s installed by car toys in the rear this week that sounded worse than the stock. Less loudness and even less bass. I know they should be properly amped but was expecting some improvement.
The car toys guy said today that it must be a Honda crossover in the stock system limiting the rear deck to get sound and bass. Is this true? I understand stock speakers are less than stellar but the aftermarket sounded even worse in the rear. I put the stock speakers back in. Thoughts??
Re: Please help with my new 2013 Civic.
Amp them. Speakers will only get so loud off of HU power.
Re: Please help with my new 2013 Civic.
I am considering doing that. The concern is that the built in crossover in my stock unit will still make them sound like crap. Possible?

Yeah, is there no way to replace the Head Unit?
Re: Please help with my new 2013 Civic.
Really not a way around it unless you get your own headunit (bypass factory amp) or get a amp (bypass factory amp)
Its probably true that they are crossed over a little bit too high

I'm pretty sure the Amish know more about designing a sound system than car companies do.
Re: Please help with my new 2013 Civic.
If I have all four speakers upgraded to alpine with a 45 watt by 4 alpine amp, won't the radio head unit still fade and crossover like the stock speakers sound?
Re: Please help with my new 2013 Civic.
Turbo... You need a turbo on the car. Intercooler, blow off, hondata computer. Set.

If that is in fact the part that is crossing over the signal yes and no. You could correct it on your amp But I have seen the headunits on some of the older civics (2010ish) and they did not seem like they would have any EQ or xover settings.
My guess is that there is a small amp somewhere powering the speakers and that has a built in crossover. Amping your speakers by themselves would bypass that amp and you now would control everything those speakers see with your own amp.
Also, just get a headunit. No point in not having one if you are seriously looking for good sound.
