    Pioneer AVH p8400 problems...please help

so everything has been going downhill since I got my new headunit and amplifier.

let me get to the part where I got my new amplifier, I mistakingly put the power and ground inputs in the wrong places, usually amps have the power on the left and ground on the right, so without reading the label for the input I put the power on the left and ground on the right, when it was suppose to switched, so no big deal, I turned on my car and the fuse popped... like I said that's not a big deal, a fuse is like 5 bucks my amp is still fine.

anyway, after the fuse popped and I got a new one, I thought I messed up my amplifier so I tried my old one and same thing, there was no sound coming to my speakers from the FRONT AND REAR outputs on my headunit, the SUB output was still working, my subwoofers were playing music but no speakers, so I sent my headunit back to soniclectronics from a replacement, and I got a new one, then the sound WAS working again. BUT for some odd reason, I tried to play with the faders, (left to right, front to rear) and all of my speakers were still playing music no matter which direction I put it in, anyway the sound was working so I just kept in center, well a few days ago I was playing a song with a very loud bass note and then after the bass dropped, boom, no more sound from my speakers again, I heard a popping noise from my speakers so I shut my car off, turned it back on, everything was fine my amps were all fine. now AGAIN the same freaking problem, the speakers weren't playing any music but the SUBWOOFER IS playing music, just the front and rear outputs are shot again.... what can be causing this?!? can it be this pico fuse problem thing? I don't know what a pico fuse but I tried researching and that came up a few times. also my rear speakers were connected to the factory harness, but now their not playing sound either, unless I turn up the volume to 40 then I can BARELY hear the music coming out unless I put my ear right next the speaker ( VERY VERY VERY low sound)

    any advice?

my wiring was never touched I installed the wiring myself and I know its correct and I even double checked it yesterday, took my entire car apart. I installed 5 sound systems before, I know how to install a sound system, this weird problem seems to keep happening now though after that power and ground issue like 2 months ago

Are you powering your speakers from a separate amp or just off the HU?

    Yea whats your setup.

"When I listen to a stereo loudspeaker playback in my room and an auditory scene has formed in my mind, how would I know that what I hear is an accurate replica of an auditory scene that could be had at the recording venue? Or more generally, that this is an auditory scene that could have existed at all?"

You'd have to ask someone else more knowledgeable than I about whethe the 8400 even has a pico fuse. I don't think it does. I think you might have damaged your speakers (hence the pop). It's possible you could have overdriven the hell out of your speakers.

What you should try doing to isolate whether the problem is within the HU is connect an MP3 player directly to your separates amp (the one for your front speakers). If you're still not getting sound, it's either the amp or the speaker itself. As for the rears not playing, turn the HU off, then tap the home button and settings to check what your rear output setting is on (REAR or SUB). Finally, double-check the crossover settings, Sound Level Control, and othersuch in the Sound menu.

no it wasn't over driving the speakers I know that for sure. they were only on like 105 watts of rms power (18.5) volts with the DMM I set it to... the problem happened when a really loud bass note hit then the speakers produced no more sound, can it be something with the OEM harness? my settings in the sound menu are all normal, like I said im not a beginner to installing sound systems and I know how to play with sound settings, EQ's, setting voltage correctly with a DMM, etc. I just keep having this one issue for some odd reason. my amp is fine, I plugged in my iphone directly to the amp with an RCA to aux input

The speakers worked when you hooked your ipod up?

directly to the amp, yes. I have an auxiliary to RCA cable that goes from my iphone to the amp. bypassing the unit... so something is wrong that the unit keeps losing the front and rear inputs somehow.... the subwoofer output on the headunit still works. this is my second headunit with the same issue. just the front and rear sound keeps going out

Have you tried swapping your RCAs? Could be a bad set. This would make sense why you're fine at the amp using the iPod. At least now you know it's upstream of the amplifier. You just knocked out 3/4 of your car's electrical with that step.

yeah. I have 3 knukonceptz triple shielded RCA's. I swapped all of them and nothing makes a difference. the subwoofer output still only works not front or rear for sound, OR my stock speaker that's connected to factory harness

When the speakers stopped playing was the hu still functioning properly besides the sound part? Im wondering if you have a short somewhere with the stock speakers causing the hu to cut it off. I would try disconnecting the speakers that are only hooked up to the headunit and try running those to the amp as well then give it a go. If that works then it may be an issue with the speaker wires or wiring harness.
