First off, i have used Sonic too and i had a fine experience.
I cant agree tho with people who try to blame the internet prices on the problems some of the small shops have. Ive seen alot of small shops and you have guys who dont act professional, they try to take advantage of people, they bs with warranties etc...
One case in point... We have a guy selling DD here in our area. Last year my friend bought a 15 from his little shop and then once it blew (under warranty) from the box he built falling apart, hes just held it for over 6 months and been ignoring him. We found out hes friends with someone who doesnt like my buddy. I told him to contact DD and tell them about his shadyness but i doubt DD would care or even do anything. He shouldve listened to me and went to a shop that is reputable.
Ive worked with a local company for over 15 years and there still doing great. And they sell mostly JL, Hertz, Audisson, etc. The difference between them and some of the shops that have come and gone is their professionalism and service.
I never said that was the only reason....shops have to conduct business appropriately but the rock bottom online pricing is a huge part of it....most consumers are not going to pay me $300 for an amp they can buy online for $250....
the only shop i trust around here is harcor audio. they sell mostly memphis stuff, and a little rockford.
You guys are correct service is a huge part of it.....I have a few locals that buy only from me when they want something...One of them even told me he doesn't care what the online prices are because I have always done him right and stood behind everything I have sold or installed in his car... My guys get treated like I would want to be treated......
I've bought from them with good results..Just small stuff though.
I'd gladly pay a lil more if I actually liked the shop... But none around here ever really did right by me... I had a good one I thought till I took my seat off and seen the most ghetto ground of my life

I bought an xs power d3100 battery from sonic, and they were the cheapest I found out there. Only thing I didnt like was the oversized box they put the battery in. Other than that, it went smoothly.
Yes exactly, I like to deal with my local shop because then if i have a problem i take it back. I dont have to ship, pay for shippping, or wait for answers. Its handled, and theres definately people out there who will pay a little extra for the service and convenience.
And of course ive bought and still buy stuff online, but with the market on the decline as is some of these shops need to step up their customer service skills to make it.
I have a small business in the auto industry so i know how it goes. I never like seeing a business close their doors (well maybe a few direct competitors wouldnt hurt ;) )
Authorized?????
this right here .what some of you guys dont realize is that some online places sell old stock and some even sell refurbs as used [kevin].but most online dealers are not authorized by the manufacture to sell their products ,they just buy them from a distributer and get it in bulk then resell it for a buck or two over cost plus shipping .just have to be careful when buying on line car audio.
