    Install Prices?

    Hello guys,

I'm new to the forum as I just signed up and I'm looking for some advice.

I just got the last pieces of my stereo system for Christmas, and I'm curious as to what I should be looking to pay to have it installed in my 2007 4runner at a car audio shop. I'm not sure what would be too expensive to pay.

    My stereo would consist of:

My double-din Kenwood, 2 amps 2 15 inch subwoofers, a component set installed in the doors up front, coaxials in the rear doors, and a couple of batteries for back up power. I have everything I need. Wiring, speakers, subs, headunit, etc. I just need it installed as I have no time to do this myself.

I would really appreciate any help from any of you experts on this.

    Re: Install Prices?

Some shops may not do the work with you purchasing the product from them. Others may charge more but will still do the work.

As for pricing....depends on what you are wanting done and how you want it to look when finished.

    Re: Install Prices?

    Thank you for the help!

Yes, I have considered that since I didn't buy if from them they may charge me more, but I'm willing to have it done right. I'm not looking for anything speacial. I'm not looking for a car audio show type of install. I have the enclosure too, which could save me some money as well.

I'm basically just looking for my factory speakers to be changed out, my headunit installed, and my batteries and amps wired up.

    Re: Install Prices?

We have a lot of Texas members here. I'm sure you could meet up with someone who knows what they doing to help you with the install. If they instruct and show you what to do , you will never have to pay a shop again. My first setup was installed at a friends shop who made me do most of the work and told me what to do and 16 years later I've never paid for an install again.

    Re: Install Prices?

The shop that installed my sub and amp before I was educated charged $65 an hour. Idk if that is good or not, because I have not talked to any other shop. That is their price for everything, whether you buy the components from them or not, or whether they sell the brand or not. Flat rate... $65. They also charge $7 per foot of 0 gauge. hahah (I didnt buy that from them). Just find out the cost for them to do what you want them to, and decide if that is worth it to you. The shop that did my install did a great job... everything was secure and hooked up properly. They also drilled through my firewall and ran the power cable very cleanly. I was happy with their work. But, now that I know how to do this stuff myself, I'd rather do it myself and save the cash or spend it on better components. But yeah... you might also think about doing part of the work yourself, and leaving the parts you don't know how or can't do for the shop to figure out.
