Re: How loud is 140DB on bass?
A jet engine at 100' is 140 dB so you're ready for the Laguardia Airport tarmac.
Re: How loud is 140DB on bass?
As loud as 140dB on treble.

Lol those comparisons are never fair, compare the frequency that a jet engine emits sound at and the low frequencies a sub puts out

Exactly, mid/upper 40's can be VERY painful on the ear drums...

Re: How loud is 140DB on bass?
mid to high 50's at 30ish just makes it hard to breathe. Stupid loud mids is what makes my ears ring.
140 Is loud enough to be annoying. but not from too far away.

Re: How loud is 140DB on bass?
OP, 140dB is pretty **** loud but it all comes down to how "well trained" your ear is. As mentioned in a few posts above, the actual peak frequency of your bass makes all the difference...

Duh, reading forums and working fail on my part. YES that would be excruciatingly loud, kinda like the mids/highs in my van...

Our ears are most sensitive at 1khz, 3khz at 140db would cause permanent hearing damage after mere minutes. You would be very able to hear it...
NVM, I was late to the party.
EDIT: Loved this part of that "Decibel Comparison Chart" Website- "High frequency sounds of 2-4,000 Hz are the most damaging. The uppermost octave of the piccolo is 2,048-4,096 Hz."
Re: How loud is 140DB on bass?
Asking this is like asking how long 3 centimeters is.
