just got all my stuff for my new system... cant wait to hear it.. thanks to everyone that helped me out in this forum..

jl audio 500/1 or 1000/1 (havent decide yet)
jl audio 300/2
cdt eurosports es 620 6.5" 2 way components
mb quart 5.25" reference series (filler speakers)
optima yellow top battery

I am getting this stuff installed at the end of the week.. the only thing i cant decide on is whether to use the 1000/1or 500/1 jl audio... my car is really small, and if i get the 1000/1 i am gonna have to get a new alternator, and i think finding one for a mercedes is pretty hard... i am pretty sure i am gonna get the 500/1.... i listened to both of them with the 12w7, and the 500/1 was good enough for me... i got real good deals on all this stuff, so i am pretty happy about it.. i will let u guys know how it sounds when it is installed...

i dont really have a prob spending the money on an alternator, but i cant seem to find one for my car... i dont even know where to look... also, would putting in a new alternator void the warranty on my car???

Have to check with the dealership on voiding the warranty by replacing the alternator. I'm not too sure on the Merc's.

What size alternator is currently in the vehicle anyways ?

I mean, if you're happy with the 500/1, go for it. But I'd listen to the 12W7 with the 1000/1 on it and see if you like it more. Just want you to do it right the first time instead of costing you more money later on. Don't get me wrong ... I'm not saying going with the 500/1 is going the wrong route.

i didnt realize how expensive alternators are.... i got quoted for $800 for a 200 amp alternator for my mercedes c320... THAT IS MAD EXPENSIVE!!!!!!! Currently, my car has a 90 amp alternator... $800 for an alternator..... that sounds like too much... do you know where i could get one cheaper?? i want to go all out and get the 1000/1, but i dont know if all that extra money is worth it.. if you think it is worth it, maybe i will do it...

I don't think its worth it but then again considering what your driving you probably got that kind of money to spend.

$800 is pretty freakin' expensive. I'd definitely shop around and look for something in the 150-200amp range.

I was thinking more along the lines of about half that, or less. I'd talk to Dom ... maybe he can build you one for a reasonable price. Don't have his e-mail handy but I think he's on the Termpro forums quite a bit, maybe even SoundDomain once in a while.
