Can you explain L-R rear fill to me?

I've been reading about it, but I still don't understand. I have a Clarion CZ702 head unit. I just purchased some JBL components for the front, and I'm also looking into a 4 channel amp. I'll probably just keep the factory rear speakers for now. Would it be possible with my equipment to do this L-R rear fill thing?

Did you ever decide if you were going to run passive or active with the components?

Most people have told me to go passive.

That's probably best with that deck.

Do you want to use the 4 channel to run both the comp and rears? I would suggest running the rears off the rear speaker output on the deck and run the front RCA out from the deck to the amp and run the comps bridged.

Ultimately, run the rears only when you have passengers in the back. Set the fader all the way forward for normal use.

Rear fill is a term for having sound coming from the rear speakers. That's all. How much you use is personal taste. My system is about 70% front. But that little bit from the rear adds some volume and makes the sound seem "fuller". Small cars can get away without it. Just my opinion.
