How to make dual 1/0 inputs?
I want to make some of my own custom inputs/battery terminals.
Toolmaker aint cheap, and I like building stuff, so any ideas on how to go about this.
Don't wanna have to go out and buy a cnc mill to make these, and have seen some made with a die grinder and they were rough, was hoping for a metal hole saw if you know what I mean.
Making the hole where the 1/0 goes, and threading the piece to tighten the 1/0 down is not the problem.
Just looking how to make the rod that goes into the amp out of a solid block.
I know that aluminum cuts pretty easy with a 100 tooth blade, but that still doesn't make a cylinder.

I swear your a member on caco and live in Wisconsin. but I could be wrong.
I bet my buddy can make you the inputs. He is a CNC programmer. But It still wouldn't be that cheap.
If I were to do it on my own. I would get copper and make the end fit into the terminal. Then I would tap 2 holes. And put copper eyelids on the end of the 1/0 gauge and bolt it down to the block of copper.

i cant remeber what kind of rod it is bt my friend makes his own input and distro blocks. he has blocks that hold up to 8 0ga wires. and he has dual and triple 0 ga amp input termnials

do you still AB500.1 for sale? my buddy was interested in that amp. maybe you guys could work out a deal for the dual inputs. I should be able to get you a block of copper. i work at a foundry north of Milwaukee.
when I needed my buss bars for my 6 runs of 0awg. I got the copper bars from my job and my buddy Damon machined them.

Just my thoughts... but I'd be the cost of doing all this yourself and the extra tools you'd need to pick up... would be pretty close to the price of toolmaker or that other guy.... I can't remember the name of the other guy. And I bet their's would come out looking a lot better :P

Re: How to make dual 1/0 inputs?
i used 1/2" rod and heated the input then pressed it in place. if you are trying to make one or two pairs its not worth it UNLESS you have a aluminum place with cut offs they sell cheap. for 2ft of bar and 2ft of rod it was $40 plus then there is the set screws.not one place near me in Sacramento has the size i used.
I used a chop saw with a wood blade "diablo" ,grinder and a hand drill for them. lucky i had some scrap stuff to use or i would of bought them from pdb
