what car, what amp, do you know what your stock alt puts out, any extra batteries?
It very well could be.
Grab a volt meter or a digital multi meter and see what your volts are at when you have the music on and the car running. And then post what your voltage starts at and drops too.
Make sure you play a bass heavy song.

car is a 1991 honda civic dx (really small) the amp i got now is a old kenwood 500 watt amp (from like 1994) with a single pyle pro 18.. no extra batteries if i added a battery would i still need a new alternator? jockhater2 i think i know somebody who might have one ill have to look into that thanks for the help
what size power/ground wires? good grounds, good connections at the battery/fuses?..sounds like you are not getting good power to the amp if it is cutting out...*shrugz*
Sounds like a wiring or setting issue.
To answer your other question, no adding batteries will not fix the problem. It is only a band-aid for it.
