Could a cut/fray in speaker wire result in amp protection?

Just looked over my wires and i saw a cut in my speaker wire, i was able to see copper but it wasnt completely frayed so i couldnt touch it without peeling back the sheathing.

Taped it over with black electrical tape anyways.

Also, when the Skar turns on i hear a loud click, protection light comes on, then goes off and then the green light turns on. Is this normal behavior? The click is loud enough to hear it from inside the cabin if you are paying attention to it.

Was it cut on both wires? Might have shorted it out.

Yes if it grounds out.
