nah. cuz honestly, 12-15kw at 1 woofer, versus 3-4kw against 4 woofers.. the spread power would be much louder.

That's why you run 4 snoopdan subs at 15kw each with (8) 7.5kw amps, 50 batterys, (8) 350A alts, & 120 runs of 2/0awg.

1. That is not how that tactic is used.

2. It is still certainly more power than a single alt should be able to keep up with. My 2 1200.1s were drawing 400A. That would have to mean the horse is putting out less power than 2 KX1200.1s (doubtful), or that it is vastly more efficient.

I was running JBL Crown 6K off HO alt, Sears Platinum primary and the same 3 dekas in the back with good results. Keep in mind if you burp at say 152 with full power, you're likely playing music....which is transient besides, at 149db. Already you're down to @ 3-4KW output as oppposed to the 10K rated (more likely 8K real world), and that's only peaks AND that's probably a worst case scenario.

Everyone I see plays songs that sound loud on their system. Your loudest frequencies are the highest impedance (assuming ported alignment). So your 2 ohm nominal load is hovering up around 8 or 10 ohm. SO realistically you may well only be seeing 3KW out of that amp when you're really quaking things.

In any event, if Snoop is claiming 15000W continuous, I expect he means actual clamped power.

He can call up NASA and ask them about the heat protection on the space shuttle. Their heat barrier material is ultralight, can withstand over 2000 degrees F and still be cool enough to be touched.

I completely agree with the impedance rise and lesser power on music. However, the amps continually get more efficient as impedance rises, so I wouldn't expect that large of a drop in power except on your loudest notes. Stuff below and above tuning may see numbers within an ohm of nominal ratings. If he was talking clamped power on music, then I would be interested to see what it would take to maintain voltage as well.

This is what I was asking about earlier. Without some sort of ultra high excursion, I don't understand the advantage of using that much power to a single driver. I understand that I may not know the physics behind "getting loud" entirely, but isn't the point to move as much air as possible?
