Yea im 18 lol two years older but i googled it and people sayed it was ok but i thought otherwise so i asked here. Good thing i did. Was replacing amps (under drivers seat) so it was hard to get to. Wire slip up and touched metal part of seat.

Ah jeez! Unless you are wired up high on your MBQ Onyx 1500 (near 4ohm or more) you need to upgrade your cables' sizes no doubt.

The 8 gauge is on a kicker zx550.2 putin out 205 rms to my components.

Like it has been stated, you fuse the WIRE properly for what it can handle, 50A, so replace it with the proper size fuse.
An 80A fuse will be more 4 gauge territory. If your original 50A fuse did not blow because of playing your system hard enough to where it drew over 50A of current, rather you accidentally grounding your power wire by having it touch the vehicle's chassy or metal, then just simply replace with the same. If your system is drawing more than 50A, then you'll need to upgrade to larger cable and in turn be able to fuse larger.

What does your system consist of BTW?

My system: JVC arsenal HU. 2 12 inch AQ SDC'S on a MB Quart onx1500. In the process of installing PPI a2.65c components which will be ran by a kicker zx550.2. 4 gauge on the MB Quart.
