best place to buy box carpet
Im going to carpet my box and false floor and I need to know the best place to get good deals on it, and is there a place that might provide close matches to certain vehicles carpets? what adhesive should I use? also for my false floor how do i carpet it? I ask because I cant carpet before it goes in because then the screws will show through, but inside the vehicle theres only millimeters between the false floor and the walls.
Re: best place to buy box carpet
Parts Express for carpet. 3M Super 77 for spray adhesive.

Re: best place to buy box carpet
I've bought a roll on ebay called polymat, comes in various colours and you can buy a set with spray glue
Re: best place to buy box carpet
3M glue ***** ***. Permatex Heavy Duty in the orange can is MUCH better, so is the PE spray glue.
yourautotrim.com has color match carpet, but it's floor carpet so it's backed and thicker. Just a little harder to work with but is fine for boxes/false floor panels.
Re: best place to buy box carpet
3M has different adhesives for different jobs. My favorite is their headliner adhesive, it does NOT come off.
Buying carpet online is a crap shoot, the colors don't always match the pictures. BTW WalMart has trunk carpet in a few colors in their automotive dept cheap.
Re: best place to buy box carpet
I usually end up using 'outdoor carpet' from menards, or where ever they sell carpet. It is a bit thicker and glue doesn't usually cut it, end up having to staple, but I love the way it looks when it's done.
Just my opinion :)
Re: best place to buy box carpet
order a color swatch from yourautotrim, that way you can get a perfect match.
I've used the 3M headliner foam adhesive, Permatex is better IMO and much cheaper....
Re: best place to buy box carpet
Usually a fabric store will have some decent stuff.
Re: best place to buy box carpet
got mine from parts express. easy to use, and cheap. just make sure you have a good fresh razor blade cuz the latex backing on their stuff dulled mine out quick.
Re: best place to buy box carpet
i don't use latex backed carpet anymore, it's a PITA. un-backed carpet also stretches more. I order most of mine from PE also. 3M Super 77 has worked good for me.
Re: best place to buy box carpet
I appreciate the replies, but if I screw my false floor in how do i get the carpet in there too?
