Re: sad excuse of a "bench test" by local "car audio shop" ... LOL
What did you expect to learn from asking to have the amp checked to see if it worked?
Power
Ground
Remote
RCA
Speaker Output
Pretty basic lol. If you want to know more you have to be direct with your questions or you don't answers at shops. Heck, even here we won't "teach" most of our clients as it is simply not worth the headache for the small amount of $$ we would get.

oh i know i have to be direct. i asked him questions but i could tell he really didn't know much.

You have to discuss what you are looking for before hand. When you walk in and talk to a salesmen, you have to tell them exactly what you are looking for.
If you want to learn something, it is better to ask here after you have searched for the answer. Going to a retail shop and expecting to get a class on amplifiers and how they work is not going to get you any where.

well it would be nice to have someone locally that knows their stuff that i could ask things. i know i can google anything but how reliable the person who answers the questions is is hard to say. and i'm not looking to get a free class on this stuff, just a few questions that weren't even answered there. i mean, how did all of you start learning things?
Re: sad excuse of a "bench test" by local "car audio shop" ... LOL
Why would you even make this thread?
Re: sad excuse of a "bench test" by local "car audio shop" ... LOL
did you read the last few lines of the first post? it's to tell beginners like me to keep an eye out for who you have install/look at your stuff

While this is true not everyone has the same options I have, I did not have this thing call "internet" back then. Other wise I would have researched and found a few books to read to help me along.
What/where are you researching?
Also for an earlier point you made about you never know who is answering your questions, the same goes for people you talk to face to face.
Re: sad excuse of a "bench test" by local "car audio shop" ... LOL
well that's the thing. idk where to search for help. i look for answers to my questions on here. the thing is, everyone says different things so idk who to listen to. what i was saying earlier is i wish i knew someone locally who knew their stuff, not some stranger. like a friend or something. i know knowledge comes with experience, i just get so overwhelmed with it all because i want to learn everything at once which is obviously impossible
Re: sad excuse of a "bench test" by local "car audio shop" ... LOL
read EVERYTHING possible that you can on here.there are thousands of threads.just pick what you wanna learn and off u go :p:
Re: sad excuse of a "bench test" by local "car audio shop" ... LOL
Figuring out where to start may be tough but the best way is to pick one area you think you are ready to learn more about..then do some searching on forums and such and see what you learn. Then analyze that information and if you not sure on some facts to do contradicting responses just post up.

well it sounds like you got exactly what you asked for a bench test is for function you should have asked them to clamp the amplifier to see what it's constant rms is and that's not what you asked for, so it's kinda on you with what you received in return for your 15 bucks.
