Question about running 2 Subs Vs 1 Sub

What would be better/louder? One sub (I don't know what sub yet If I go with this choice so any ideas are welcome) getting powered by 1500rms watts or 2 sundown sa12 subs getting powered by 750rms each?

I hear people who say there could be problems with sub phase with two subs, but I've never had 2 subs so I don't know what that means exactly.

What do you think would be best/loudest.

i would personally get one bigger sub then later down the road when you dont think its loud enough or what not, then you can get an identical one and a bigger amp.

well if i were to get two subs Id get 2 sundown audio sa 12s and have them powered a kicker ZXS1500.1 giving them 750 each

Those sa-12's can handle 1k each all day.

If that one sub is going to be powered off that kicker amp, id go with the two sa-12's.

Re: Question about running 2 Subs Vs 1 Sub

Personally, I would go for two subs on the 750 each.

I don't really like high power single sub setups all that much. I'd rather run with more cone area if I can...

Re: Question about running 2 Subs Vs 1 Sub

have you looked at the PSI platform 1 or the amercian bass xfl, these 2 will be much louder than running 2 SA's and you have the power to back this subs up with 1500watts

no matter what everybody says SA's are only 2.5 voice coil and 600watts rms

Re: Question about running 2 Subs Vs 1 Sub

So the SA 12s powered at 750rms each would be better and louder then one sub powered at 1500?
Also, am I really gonna have to worry about sub phase? And is the Kicker ZXS1500.1 a good amp to power them?

Re: Question about running 2 Subs Vs 1 Sub

so you rather buy 600watts 2.5 voice coil rather than running true 750watts rms subs 3 inch voice coils for almost the same price, wont you rather have a sub that is bigger if your amp can put out the power needed?

Re: Question about running 2 Subs Vs 1 Sub

dont underestimate a single sub setup, but obviously more cone area with all other factors identical will be louder, but if you can afford one good sub or two crappy subs then go with one good one. as far as cancellation goes, it wont be a factor in your situation

Okay good info man. So are you saying two sundown sa 12s are a "crappy" bad choice?

no im simply stating that argument, id rather not get into a debate over what subs are good or bad, i have personally never heard the sa's but everyone seems to be getting their nuts as close to them as possible, so there must be something good about them. Another thing you should consider is box space, I could run 2 15s easily or 1 18, (which I will soon) but i dont have the proper airspace for 2 18s. i would be better off running 2 15s in a proper box over the 2 18s in a under sized box.
