Creating a market between crap and custom is going to be the challenge.

I don't see many "middle of the road" people they are either going to go crap or custom...
Post some videos of your boxes vs crap boxes hopefully you can get the point across.

You don't pay for the weight of an enclosure. You will pay bulk weight 90% of the time.

I think if you want to make money on it.....you will not be in a great position.

I think if you want to do it to have fun and break even.....you could maybe do it.

If you want to lose money on it and make people happy, then you can for sure do that.

But you just said you need to charge more because it is birch....yet you pay the same? To the consumer the wood won't matter. Also the acoustical properties between birch lam and mdf is negligible. I know for a fact you are not getting Baltic Birch for the same price as MDF.

Birch vs mdf has been argued plenty. I would think to an educated consumer the wood WOULD matter. Acoustic properties no, not a huge difference. Strength, durability and weight however are a huge difference

Ok, so you do have a target market then. People who are educated on audio. That is a very slim market....as you can see from this forum itself there are not too many that are educated on car audio.

For the general public, they do not care what it is made out of.

They care about:

1. Price
2. Does it fit without modifying anything.
3. Can they put it in easily with little to no tools.
4. Does it work.

If the answers are:

1. Cheap
2. Yes
3. Yes
4. Yes

Then you have a winner on your hands.
