Yea I'm wondering I wanna run 5000rms in hybrid escalade
they're not wired as 12v.. probably considerably higher.
I have wondered this as well as full electric cars.

yes it is possible the hybrid escalade is just a regular truck with a battery system designed to be able to re-crank the car at every stop anyway. you should still have a 145amp alt under the hood as well as a group 34 batt in the regular spot.
and for full electric car you just have to use the 12v battery but you are really limited on current due to the fact that the 12v batt is charged by step down modules that can only handle a certain amount of current so like a 300watt limit (this is a realistic estimate i cannot state what every car can do but rather this is what i feel comfortable with)

when is someone gonna come up with a dc electric fuel cell on the cheap that will fit in the trunk and deliver 250 amps at 14.4 volts?....or am I just wayy out there?

Doesn't the altnator still spin and make current when its in electric mode? I'm trying to run 5000w rms lol I'm still picking out a truck do I not get the hybrid but that's the only thing that is stoping me
There is somewhere on here in the build logs a guy that was building a system in his nissan leaf. I wanna say he was running around 500-800 watts. His was a very high end install with quality equipment focused on SQ and efficiency. Hybrid vehicles are not that difficult, full electrics though is a whole other ball game
My concern about electric cars was how many miles would be lost. If the car can travel 100 miles on a full charge, and your system is 1500+ watts, does that mean you only have 60 miles?

Find that build on here. The guy did a guy job of calculating the efficiency of each system and doing the math of mileage lost and all. I have no idea what the loss would be, but reading that build can give you a good idea of a roundabout number. Just search for Nissan Leaf
