What's the best Alpine cd player for $500-800? I've heard a lot of good things about the BBE proccessing but that makes the price of the cd player seem to jump $200.

why alpine? why not eclipse, if you are looking to spend that kind of money i would just as soon get the eclipse, which is a better SQ unit, imo alpine has been getting more mass produced and component quality has gone down, they are still exelent units for sure, but not as good as they used to be

    eclipse 5303r
    JBL 1200.1 - crossfire 75.2
    Audiobahn 12's - 5.25 components
optima yellow - LA 2f cap

I have the Alpine CDA-7893 and it's a bad baby!!! Blue on Silver look is excellent, talk about bright blue too... I find it a best buy and it's number one in headunits, that's what I think... Well it has a 60w RMS x 4 for the speakers, and like tommybad said, it has POWER~!

True systems DON'T USE the deck power anyway! That should not factor into your purchase decision.

I have to agree Eclipse is the **** but, for the price Alpine is the ****!

    the best

the best alpine in that price range is the cda-7995 for sure. The 7998 is in that range too, but is almost $300 more with few improvements other than the eq. If you're looking to spend that kind of money, you shouldn't be looking at a head that has any internal amplification, you won't need it. Buy yourself a good head that needs an amp and make sure that the amps s/n ratio is better than the head, and that the thd is less than .05, that will make your sound perfectly clear if your speakers can handle it. definately go for the cda-7995, you can find one for about $400 if you do your homework, but they retail in shops for about $600
