^^ not saying that you will be wrong bro... But I would like to see what the results will be, not just spl but sq as well... I know that cone area is a huge factor but what I am getting at is that it seems that some people think that it is the only factor... which is false.

Cone area is good for people that can't design properly. Making sure everything is in phase and breathing properly is far better then shoving 500 18's in your car.

Plenty of hood set ups like that with 8 12's in a trunk that couldn't break a 40. But cone area implemented properly will reign supreme for daily pounding.

One 8 on 550watts isn't "raping" anything. Get your multiple 8's up and running and then the raping and pillaging will commence.

I run a single 18 in the daily and 6 18's in the demo ride, so I'm a fan of cone area/motor strength. My definition of motor strength is more motors to dissipate heat better, not actual BL numbers...

There is so much more to a sub stage then cone area. Installation and using the area you have correctly will always work best in the end. Many times the best setup is that last one you actually test.

I had two 15 cvr sealed and a guy had a 10" Fi BL ported, both were on 1k, and the Fi BL got louder.

More cone area does not always mean getting louder, your enclosure will play a much bigger role than cone area.

I chose not to read it and just posted. I would assume there are claims that you can not play low with out large subs? If so then could someone care to explain why most home theater setups use 8" or smaller drivers and play below 30hz all the time? Or if you want to stay in car audio, what about the DD 6.5 sub or other companies that produce similar sizes? I have used them several times and they still shock me by the output.

The phrase cone area is king really only has one application and that's when you are talking about lows (<30hz). You don't need a lot of cone area to get loud off some of the higher frequencies because high motor force can go a long way. But when it comes to lows, it's much more difficult to build up the same kind of pressure and you need to move a lot of air to do so.

Ah i see. If that is the case then it his post is being taken out of context. He is referring to play sub 30hz while being very loud doing it. While it can be down with a small amount of cone area, it is much easier when you have as much cone areas as you can fit.

I was thinking of running 4 of the American Bass 6.5s... I know they arent probably on the DD level, but I was curious what I could accomplish with them.

They are not all that bad to be honest. I think you would be surprised by their output yet at the same time disappointed. They do great things, but they are limited do to their size. They can play low and loud though..just not as loud as other subs can.
