    1000 watts on a 105 amp alternator

should that be causing problems? i've been having some problems with it and i feel like the alternator should be able to handle it. or could it be something else? i haven't done the big 3 but am planning on doing it if it's supposed to help a lot

    What car do you have?

The big 3 is the FIRST thing you should do....even before installing the gear!

2003 mustang. the amp is a dx1000.1. i wouldn't think i'd need to upgrade alternator or get a second battery on only 1000 watts though

well thats 100a draw so u have 5a to run stock stuff. which normally takes 40a to run. (ur alt should be okay) I'm running around 1200w on an 80a alt and its handling but I'm getting my alt respun. DO THE BIG 3!!! that will help a lot. my friend has a 05 mustang and is running a saz 1500d on all stock cept for an extra batt. all zero gauge also. his handles just fine.

You wont be pulling all 1000 anyway so I dont why people say that... Do big 3, install your gear, and see what your voltage does...

Re: 1000 watts on a 105 amp alternator

I have a 105a/80idle alternator in my 03 impala... on idle with the Memphis pr1000.1 dmm set.. No Big 3 done yet.. wally world batt... 1/0 from bat to amp 1/0 ground
at low notes hit me from 14.4 to 13.5-.1 really low notes i drop to 12.9-.7 an I get dimming but the voltage from 14.4 to 13.5-.1 or 12.9-.7 is at the amp.. on the batter It won't drop past 13.1 I would say check all grounds, do the big 3.. if you don't have a good gauged wire run a good gauged wire... grab another battery... maybe put a big agm up front and a smaller one in the back

You should be fine... I've got <1500w on my stock 70a alt and oem battery, with only a big 3 upgrade, and I have no problems. The big 3 can work wonders.

Re: 1000 watts on a 105 amp alternator

is it normal for my voltage to drop more on higher notes than it does on lower notes? i had to set the low pass filter pretty low because on the higher notes it would dim the lights way worse
