SA-12's or SA 10's? (plus amp)

ok, im looking at some new subs. probably gonna get called a nut hugger, but with all the good reviews, i cant go wrong. plus, im sure they will be an upgrade to my type r's. originally looking at sundown sa 12s but then i was wondering about the sa 10's? ive got another thread going on here asking about the difference between 10's and 12's. i assume its all preference.

im looking for sql, i guess thats what you call it? want something that hits hard but sounds pretty good too. $400 or less for the pair.

any other suggestions (might as well ask)?

PS: the audioque 1200d amp wired at 1ohm will be plenty for the sa's right? i know the subs are rated at 600w rms but everyone knows they can take more. i just wanna make sure.

Theoretically more cone area results in more "loudness". I'd always pick 12"s over 10" assuming I had the proper space to run 12"s. If you can't properly fit 12"s, then go with the 10"s. And yes, a par will do fine on an AQ1200D.

Re: SA-12's or SA 10's? (plus amp)

what size are your type Rs? yes 12s are louder, but it also plays into how loud u want it. for example, two 12s sealed is plenty loud for me. i would not be able to stand two 12s ported, way too loud for me. i have two 10s ported off the 870 watts from my AQ1200 and its just about right.

if you had two type R 10s off 1200 watts(they are rated 600 right?) and it wasnt loud enough, then 12s off 1200 watts would be what u need. also having them being louder than u need is nice, so u can just turn the gains down and make it fit rather than not having enough spl, u cant do much besides pay and upgrade.

were your type Rs good enough sound quality, just not enough loudness? the SA subs wont be any better SQ wise, maybe tied, possibly a little more distortion. dont let me sway u from buying them, just trying to make sure ur going to have enough SQ in the SQL ur wanting, so your happy. there are plenty of options for your budget

my type Rs are 12". they are the older model, so 500 rms. i havent actually heard them because they are still sitting in original packaging. but since im replacing most of the cars sound (speakers, amps, box), i thought it might be a good time to buy some better subs. i dont want to hook them up, them want to buy something better and try to sell the type r's used. it would be better if they were brand new for a selling point.

the type rs are dual 2's though, so with the the audioque 1200d, id be pushing it about 800 watts, which isnt bad for a first system.

    What other options are there?
    What
