the gap is narrower than a typical TC9, at least it looks like it, 1" slug Y35 will fully saturate a 3/4" 1010 top-plate so after the 1st slug there its a clearance thing lol. Gap that tight would help lower Q though if the coil is dense enough to make good use of the extra stout flux field.

I've always read that the RLp was a variation of the TC9 motor. I'm no TC expert though. Any of you tc fiends have a TC2+ motor laying around?

    Re: TC Sounds Motor's

Good info. If this was here a few days ago I could have deciphered what motor my Evo was. I read that it was a TC2 and a TC2+, but had no definitive answer besides what Shane told me.

I have what seems like a dumb question, but with XBL^2 its obviously an acronym (I know what it is, but Im not going to clutter the thread with that since its irrelevant to the TC). Is there a particular technology that TC stands for or is it just derived from TC Sounds name?

So, you think the Qes/Qts would be the same if I took the 3LM off of my LMS4000 and replaced it with a TC9? Gap is exactly the same between the two.

Q would definitely be lower with the 3LM, that's the reason the Q is so high on the SW8000's.

No. In the end, the answer is, always has been, and can only be... heat kills speakers. BUT, clipping increases heat generation, sometimes by a drastic amount. So to start a thread simply to state that clipping does not hurt speakers is, again, a half-truth at best.

Q would definitely be lower with the 3LM, that's the reason the Q is so high on the SW8000's.
If magnets had the same charge, Q shifts should be minimal, and I'd like to point out that the LMT from the RL-s line has a tc9 top-plate and a qts over 1.00 lol. My Old school TC3LM 4K's have the exact same Q as my tc9 lms drivers

hmmm, so the 2nd/3rd puck is overkill, but used for clearance on most motors with 3/4 TPs(y35 mags) given the pucks are relatively wide? This would make the 3hps stronger with more saturation? I dnt know much about this stuff, but i used to read a little about farromegnetics, etc.

the 3HP makes use saturation wise of the top 2 ferrites

Magnetic coupling is a neat thing, demonstrated well in the graphs in the link posted a lil ways up.
