Inverted subs, with the box lip touching the surround, horrible for it?

So basically my whole custouts seems to be a touch to small for when the subs are inverted, when the subs are regular mounted, they drop in fine, but I guess the surround is a 1/4" bigger or so diameter

Anyways when I mounted them inverted, center it as best as possible, I feel with my finger against the surround on the inside of the box and I can feel the box lip touching/pushing against the surround.

Will it damage the sub if it plays like this?? It might be touching the subs by an 1/8" all the way around

If it will definetely **** them and push them into coil rub then I wont power them like this and would regular mount them, but Id be pretty pissed as I had the baskets custom painted and built the box height around them being inverted...

    Thanks guys

just sand the hole bigger, touching like that will for sure mess up your subs, whether its coil rub, or just tearing up the surrounds

get a router w/ a 1/8" rabbeting bit, run around the top of the hole, then change to a flush cut with the berring on the shaft, and complete the enlagement but cutting the bottom off flush to the rabbetted part.
