    2009 Pontiac G5

Looking at going to pick up one tomorrow. Anyone deal with any HU installs? Just curious what I'm getting myself into this week. I will install all the stuff in my sig, most of the time the HU is what takes me the most time.

I have never worked on one but have heard they need a special dash kit? Like they have special controls or read outs on the bottom of them? I could be wrong though?

Have you test driven the car yet? I test drove a cobalt a few years back and had issues seeing out the back for merging. Just something to consider before getting the car. Other than that I loved it.

I have driven one of my buddies. They do have a complicated looking factory HU so that's kind of what I was asking about.

I would say other than a potentially expensive dash kit I would say it would be an easy install.

    vs.

Think this will work? I saw it, but it was just 04 and up GM vehicles so I thought that was kind of sketchy.

Eh. Nevermind. Crutchfield has one for $20 I dont think it will be any kind of problem.

PAC GM Radio Integration Adapter Allows aftermarket radio installation in select 2006-up General Motors vehicles (model C2R-GM11) at Crutchfield.com

Think I will need one of these? I dont care if I dont have chimes and stuff, but will it work without that?

you will probably need that. I know my 04 cavi had to have a similar part and it is less high tech

yes everything will work except the chimes and onstar, etc. I have an 07 grandprix and the only other thing id let you know is more then likely the positive included in the harness will not work and you will have to run wire from a fuse to the harness for it to power up. make sure you pick a fuse that starts with the car otherwise you will have to turn on and off manually everytime.

Yeah, I dont understand that. Will the chime thing help the power? I tried to do that in someone's cobalt and the wire melted.
