    Got my amp yesterday.

Well I recieved my new Pioneer Premier PRS-X220 from ups yesterday. It arrived at about 4:30 yesterday evening after I got home for school. God I was so excited to open up the box and take a look at this peice of art. I was really interested in looking at the performance chart. So with in keeping with tradition about these amps being grossly underrated all I can say is wow when I looked at the charts. This amp I recieved is rated at 30 watt x 2 @4 ohms but the birthsheet says 68 x 2 @ 4 ohms. This amp is rated for 120 x 1 @4 ohms but my amp was tested at 242 watts x 1 @4 ohms. As you can see these amps are very great for the money. Not bad at all for a great quality amp which I only have 77.17 in it altogether. It works just like a new one to. I hooked it up to my subs at 2 ohms bridged since its stable at 1 ohm stereo and 2 ohms bridged and this amp was more than capable of powering my subs when bridged. It was able to make them hit as hard as my 600msx which is supposed to do 410 watts at 2 ohms and if this premier amp doubles its ouput then it should have done over 400 watts at 2 ohms mono itself so I am very pleased. I just cant wait till I am able to run new speaker to the doors from the trunk so I can hook this thing up to my components.

Now for my question. Would it be alright to just use the factory speaker wiring which is 18 guage for my components cuz if it will then I wont have to run new speaker wire to the doors, all I will have to do is hook the amp up to the rear speaker outputs in the trunk and then connect the rear speaker wires into the front speaker wires so they will just relay the power into the doors because otherwise I will have to tear my entire dash out and then run the new wire through the door wire grommets which to get to on the passenger side I will have to take the computer out and on the drivers side I might have to take out the parking brake to get to the grommets. Thanx for any help you can give me.

Ummm 18 guage is really skimpy wire from my standpoint and is normal used to transfer around 25 watts RMS / 50 peak from either HU internal amp or stock External amps on other cars. The 18 guage will still work although you may not get your maxium transfer. I say replace it.. you cant go wrong, alotta work but it will pay off.

Yea I think I will just use the factory wire for now, and then when it gets warmer I will replace it since the highs around here are now in like the upper 40's lower 50's.
