Icon32 One 4-channel amp OR Two 2-channel ampS?

    Status: Total Car Audio Newb

I have been looking on ebay for a 4-channel amp with around 100 watts per channel in hopes of running my new audio setup off the one amp.

    What I need power for:

New 6.5 mb quart discuss component (I just build some kickpanels for the components) and one 12" polk db sub (used but sounded great in guys car for only $40) - possibly putting 4" in the dash in the future of my 98 reg cab s10

I have a budget on my amp setup, its around $250 (give or take)
Seems like there are some 4 channel amps on ebay that say they push about 50-75 watts per channel for just under $200
    i.e. ALPINE V 12 SERIES MRV F340 4 CHANNEL *NEW* just sold for $171

One 4-channel amp OR Two 2-channel ampS?

Would I be better off getting 2 amps that are about 100 watts per channel each, and bridging one amp for my sub, or just getting one four channel for now and then getting a mono sub amp later? What are my advantages / disadvantages? If I expand my budget now will I save costly upgrades in the future?

Are the 5 channel amps worth the money??

I am thinkin that if one amp goes out, I can replace it cheaply instead of buying a hoss daddy 5 or 6 channel amp and it go kaboom cuz I don't know what the hell I am doin'

    Thanks All! - Lewix

One more thing, some amps are rated 14.1 and others like 12.4 volts or something... is this something to look for when buying pls anyone help me out!

A couple of amps that put out about 100wrms x 4 are:

    Visonik --- http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...&category=4950

    and the Lanzar VIB428 --- http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...&category=4950

both these amps claim 125w x 4 @ 4ohm but I think they are a little over rated so they may do about 100w per channel.

I always like to keep my amps seperate...having one for the sub and another for the speakers. This way you have tatol control over the sound of each amp. Pluse I have noticed, at times when I have hooked up a sub to an amp with speakers on like your talkin, that the sub seems to "rob" the speakers of power.

Well, I just dropped my Punch 800a4 off at the shop to get the RCA's fixed. When it gets back you can get it off of me if you interested.

    100 x 4 @ 4ohm
    200 x 4 @ 2ohm
    400 x 2 @ 4ohm (bridged)

It the older black and silver trapizoid shaped model (sorry no end caps).
