Yo Experts! Help with Cap & sys Question

    I have a sony amp 2150gsx bridged 380w running 2 15" punch series 1 woofers.

I've noticed the lights on my truck (2001 toyota tundra) lights dim when the bass hits hard (mostly with rap music).

Will a 1farad or .5farad cap be enough? I'm not a comp guy just looking or something nice sounding. I'm looking to switch to 2-JL 10wOs because one of the 15"s is blown & I wan to have enough power for the JLs.

Has anyone heard of the Tsunami caps

.1 farads per 100 watts.. .5 will do it unless you plan to upgrade in the future..more capacitance isn't gonna hurt any.

Well a general rule of thumb for capacitors is just multiply by 100... a 1 farad cap is helpful for up to 1000 watts, a .5 cap is good for up to 500, etc. And yeah tsunami is a relatively popular cap... there isn't too much difference between the brands besides maybe a few design changes here and there. What you want to look for is whether the cap supplies 16V/20V or 20V/24V. The latter is obviously better because it supplies a constant boost of 20V and up to a max of 24V when the system is demanding more. The 20/24 caps will cost a little more usually, but if your gonna get one might as well do it right. Keep bangin'. Peace.

    Thanks to all!

Thanks guys I appreciate the help! I'll go with the 1farad incase i decide to upgrade the stock speakers on my truck.

Someone told me that I would be spending big $$$$$$$ on a system. I said "Nah, I just want something simple & clean around $400-$500."

I gotta feeling I'm gonna spend a lot more than I thought by the time I'm through!

Haha, I said the same thing when I first started, but it slowly turns into an obsession... at least for me. Once you get a taste, you'll never have a factory system again. Good luck guy. Peace .

    Ha!

When I first started I knew nothing about caps, wire gauges, amp fans, amps, speakers and all that other stuff.

I've learned quite a few things but it has come at a heafty price.

I need a second job! LOL!!!
