    sound deadener placement

i am about to purchase some sound deadener, and i will not have enough to do my whole truck all at once, my question is where would you start, i was thinking the back wall right behind where the box puches against it, i imagine it rattles alot. where would you start, roof, doors, back wall, ect..... just looking for opinions........

me talking to a sales rep at tweeter after he told me he hit 160+db with a single 10L5 in his truck, saying the reason it was so loud was because it was aimed straight up and in a sealed box: "this whole place is worthless, do you even know what SPL means?"

store manager: "i think you need to go, oh and by the way, SPL means Sub Poundage Level, thank you very much"

only time i've ever left a car audio store with a smile on my face

    Re: sound deadener placement

I'd do the places that rattle the most first.
Then the places that are the hardest to do - saves you the effort when you buy more.

It also depends on how much material you're getting.

I also wouldn't scatter it all over the place and do a half assed job. I'd keep it in trouble places (areas that rattle a lot) and do them really well the first time around. But thats just me, liking to keep things nice and organized.

Around and behind the mid range/bass speaker is wherr you will see the most benefit initially. If these are door mount, do the whole door so you only have to pull the panel once. I wouldn't worry about the rear cab wall until you can get to the floor as well. That way you can do it right and you only have to pull the seat and carpet once.

    Re: sound deadener placement

where you apply the material all depends on what your goals are.
improved mid bass? around the spekers, behind the speakers.
Road noise? weheel wells, floor, trunk , rear deck, doors
    SPL? trunk lid ceiling.
SQ? doors, ceiling, rear deck, floor

hit the weekest areas of the car first. the thinnes sheet metal.
If I only had a limited amount, I would do door skins, door panels, ceiling, trunk.

Take off the liner and apply to the metal

While you're up there, weld in some 1" square stock to reinforce everything even more
