Icon7 kevin85193 = car audio newbie and needs help

I just like to say Hello to everyone. Just signed up today and I'm need some help.

    Car: Acura Integra GS
    Music I listen to: Deftones,Incubus,APC.. mostly rock/punk
Want I want: I want a nice system that will play the above music clearly with a little thump. It doesn't have to boom all the way down the street, just has to have quality.
Budget: I really don't know. Max $800(not including installation) The lesser the better.(just not to cheap that the quality will be bad)

    Already in car:
    Head Unit:
    Alpine 9807
    Front Speakers:
Infinity Kappa 60.5cs, Component Speaker System
    Rear Speakers:
    Infinity Kappa 652.5i,2-Way Speaker

I was posting on another car audio forums a few months ago when I was really interested. That then faded and I needed to pay off some bills and other types of things. Now, I'm back for my sub/box/amp/amp.

    People suggestions from before:
Get 2 amps. 1 for Sub, 1 for Front speakers.
    Sub's I've been looking at: Adire,Elemental Designs...
    Amps: No clue

I am a car audio newbie, so don't mind me. I probably won't know most of what your going to tell me. I can't build a box, so that's out of the question. I will be getting it installed probably at circuit city.

Any help is appreciated. I'm sorry if this post is done 10000 times a day, I just really need help. If anymore information is needed, just leave a post and I'll reply quickly.

Re: kevin85193 = car audio newbie and needs help

If you're happy with those speakers then:

    Component Amp: USX2050-69.99 from thezeb.com
Sub amp: AXT 800.2-285.00+shipping from avionixxusa.com
    Sub: 1 Magnum D2-300 shipped from stereointegrity.com
Box: 1.5 cubic feet sealed-If you made one yourself probably $30 or you can purchase one from LoneRanger on this site for about $45 + shipping at www.geocities.com/donnballenger/

All that comes to around $700. I just did some of the more popular brands on this site. If you are looking for some new front speakers check out the CDTs on thezeb.com. You probably don't need even that much power for the sub. It's rated at 600 rms and can take a lot more but I'm pushing it with 460 watts and it gets plenty loud for me. Just make sure you look for rms ratings and not the max power. Good luck!

Re: kevin85193 = car audio newbie and needs help

Whoa now, first things first, do not get it installed at Circuit City. You should install it yourself. It's very easy to do (we'll be glad to help you), it's free, you get a sense of accomplishment, and you know the ins and outs of your system. If for whatever reason you feel you are completely incapable of doing this, at the very least get it installed at a real shop; a store that specializes in car audio.

As far as equipment, you've got a good start. Here's a relatively cheap setup that will provide what you want:

    Sub: ED 12O series (SVC 4 ohm) - $195
    http://www.edesignaudio.com/ep2/12o.htm

    Amp: Soundstream Rubicon 500-2 - $170
    http://www.millionbuy.com/sosrub5002.html

Amp for components - Soundstream Rubicon 300-2 - $130 (just run your rear speakers off your HU)
    http://www.millionbuy.com/sosrub3002.html

Total - $495, leaving you $305 for box wires and installation if you choose to do so.

As far as a box, if you don't have the tools to build one, I suggest PMing LoneRanger on these forums, he makes great boxes at a good price.

Re: kevin85193 = car audio newbie and needs help

if u want sq (sound quality) then i would recomend staying with infinity. the kappa perfect 12.1 and a rockford power 351m amplifier would give u deep, loud, clear, hard hitting bass without over-ruling your system. the over all cost is around 350$. but take the advice given to u and make up ur mind, people will give u there opinion, but make the final decision urself.

Ha, would, my bad. They're average subs. The SQ is real nice, but theyre very, very quiet. Plus, you can easily blow them. I used to own a pair and blew them with about 400 watts each.

alpine MRP-M200 is a good amp, its about 200 watts @ 2 ohm. its only one channel though, Im not sure what your lookin for as far as for bass or for your speakers. I used to to use this amp, it was pat of my first system it pounded my rokford fosgate punch subs pretty good.
