    0/1 AWG Ring Terminals

Ok, so while I was installing my stuff in the new car today, I discovered that the "0/1AWG" ring terminals I got off eBay are too small. Way too small, because I was unable to fit the 0/1 awg wire into them. They're also so stiff that I couldn't crimp them even if I could get the wire in.

So now I'm going to have to venture out to Home Depot and hope they have some actual 0/1 awg terminal connectors or I'm going to be royally pissed. On the plus side, the battery in my car is located under the rear seat, so I don't have to run the wire very far at all (which also means no drilling a hole in the firewall - YAY!)

Were they crimp terminals or crimpless? I always use the latter, the former really annoy me.

Also, good luck at Home Depot, I've never seen any terminals/connectors bigger than 8 AWG.

If all else fails, you could just strip off a few strands until they fit.

For the crimp type.. I just use a C clamp to get the one side of the crimp onto the other side. Then I use a vice to "crimp" it. Works great. Haven't had a wire come lose yet....

Yeah, they're the crimp type -- if you even want to be that generous, as they're probably close to 2mm thick. Oh well. Right now I'm just glad to have gotten the head unit installed (the wiring harness pinout isn't exactly correct), as it was a royal pain in the ***. Next up I have to run the RCAs and get the power wire figured out. Then it's time to install the amps. Then the components.. which is going to be tough, because I'm not quite sure how to take the dash apart to get to the stock speakers.

    ****, that's crazy!

I might actually just solder the rings on to ensure they stay. It seems that I was incorrect about the terminals not being 0/1awg... my wire is actually 00awg ("two-alt")... Guess I really can't complain, as it was free. It just would've been nice to have known this beforehand, because now I'm going to have to strip a lot of the wire away at the ends in order to make it all fit.
