    Issue with Alpine CDA-9807 & BA FX-5

I have a set of boston accoustic FX-5 (5.25" 2 ways) in the front dash of a pimpin' ford aerostar.

The speakers will crackle and pop during bass notes and I can't get rid of the problem. I've messed with the H/U and changed settings around, even focusing the bass on higher frequencies and playing less bass altogether. It still crackles on bass notes at higher volumes.

On a side note, I'm pretty sure my factory speakers in the rear side walls are crackling as well, so I don't think it's speaker related. Let me know what you guys think.

    Peace.

No 5.25 speaker will be able to play bass frequencies very low, so i'd say set your crossover, should have one in the hu, to cut off everything below atleast 50, 80 would probably be better assuming you have subs. If you don't have a crossover in your hu, get some bass blockers. The other things is if they are amped, you may have the gains up too high.

Not amped, and the deck doesn't have a crossover, but I can "focus the bass at 60, 80, 100, or 200 hz" and I can set the "bass bandwidth" (how wide of a band of bass notes it plays) to wider or skinnier.

I've tried focusing the bass at 200hz with the skinniest bass bandwidth, which should be crossing over the speakers at at least 60hz, if not even higher!

The speakers still clipped funny. Would this be possible with loose wiring? It's in my friends van and I don't trust his wiring, but they were supposedly professionally installed.

    Thanks for your help.

I think bass blockers would be a good choice.
